Discussing Sustainable Tourism with Young People
Dr Sara Parry and Dr Sonya Hanna from Bangor Business School have recently been awarded funding from the ¶º±ÆÖ±²¥ Impact and Innovation Award to research young people's perceptions and place attachment to the Slate Landscape World Heritage Site. The Slate Landscape was awarded UNESCO status in 2021 and is an important cultural heritage site in north Wales. A related focus of this work is Sustainable Tourism in the area, particularly in light of an influx of visitors during the pandemic. The findings from this research will feed into Gwynedd Council and Snowdonia National Park Authority's Sustainable Visitor Economy Plan. During the next few weeks we will be conducting interviews and focus groups with young people who live in the Slate Landscape area and exploring the effect of social media on the attitudes of both local communities and visitors.
