My name is Alice and i'm a 3rd year French and Marketing student, i'm currently on my year abroad in France, working as a language assistant with the British Council. Ìý
My daily life consists of working in two schools teaching English.Ìý My placement duties involve preparing pupils for their speaking examinations, presenting activities and more to classes that have a range of English language skills.Ìý The aim is to improve their level of English as well as inspiring them to discover more about British culture.Ìý Last semester the students enjoyed learning about the Royal family, regional UK accents and tongue twisters. It is interesting to view British culture from their perspective as well as to answer their questions about the UK.Ìý The placement is really enjoyable, alongside helpful colleagues, who make the teaching exciting and varied.Ìý
This opportunity has lead me to discover the responsibilities involved in the classroom that are essential to this role.Ìý Equally, the teaching environment is benefiting my own improvement in French language studies and the outside experience has broadened my outlook on cultural differences. Ìý
The overall experience has led me to meet other language assistants from different countries.Ìý Also, there have been many opportunities to travel.Ìý In my free time, I have been able to explore many cities, experience French Christmas and other holiday celebrations. Ìý
