Darcy Hill BSc Psychology
Hi, my name is Darcy Hill and I have been a Psychology student at ¶º±ÆÖ±²¥ for the past 3 years. I am fascinated by this subject and decided I wanted to learn about it from a new perspective. I am a very adventurous person who is eager to learn and gain new experiences, and studying aboard has offered me both!
I am studying at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. Wilmington is not only beautiful, but it is welcoming, exciting and very warm, a nice change from North Wales! Being on the coast means the beach is at our fingertips and so my friends and I will spend much of our free time watching the sunsets and surfing.
Coming to a campus-based university has been a refreshing change. I live on campus with other International students, as well as transfer students from other American colleges. This has given me the opportunity to not only immerse myself into American culture, but I have also learnt about the cultures of my international peers. I am still getting used to the food out here but I have taught many American friends how to make some good British dishes! I am loving learning about psychology from a different perspective and equally, my professors love hearing about it from an international point of view.
I am completing an internship this semester on my professor’s research team, working with children with developmental disabilities. This is the opportunity of a life time and I am excited to see what it has to offer in the coming weeks. I have the unique opportunity to take non-psychology classes and so I have taken ones such as theatre, art, well-being and swimming. These classes have not only reminded me of my passions, but have inspired me to incorporate my passions into my ideal career and, with the help of my incredible professors, I am findings ways of doing this.
