¶º±ÆÖ±²¥'s Language Scheme Sets the Standard
On Tuesday 7 May, ¶º±ÆÖ±²¥ will reinforce its commitment to the Welsh language when the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Hughes, launches its revised Language Scheme.
The revised language scheme has been prepared in the context of the Welsh Language Standards that will come into force in two years, and it aims at putting the university in a strong position to respond positively to the standards. In its plans to provide services through the medium of Welsh and increase the use of Welsh in the workplace, the university is keen to safeguard its position as the leading provider of Welsh language higher education.
Looking forward to the event, Mr Wyn Thomas, Pro Vice-Chancellor (for Welsh medium and Civic Engagement matters), said: “The launching of the new language scheme at ¶º±ÆÖ±²¥ is a very important event and is a considerable milestone for us as an institution. It’s an indication of our commitment to maintain the highest possible standards, respect the Welsh language, and make maximum use of the language in every aspect of our work and our mission. As the leading provider of Welsh medium higher education, with the largest number of undergraduates and postgraduates studying through the medium of Welsh, we are keen to lead the field and support and advise others to achieve the same standards.â€
