Legal Services
The University’s legal services are provided by two law firms depending on the nature of the query:
- Hugh James provides legal services for Governance & Compliance matters and for Commercial & Intellectual Property matters.
- Veale Wasbrough Vizards provides legal services for Property & Estates matters, Student Matters and Employment and Human Resources matters.
Both law firms also offer training and a range of free, added value, services to the University. Further information on these services can be found by contacting Nwanne Nwankwor in the legal services team, by using the email noted below.
The legal services agreement is managed by Sarah Riley, Head of Legal Services and in order to monitor the University’s use of legal services, and to be aware of the costs to the University, access to this legal advice is managed through Sarah and her team. This allows the University to consider advice previously received, to consider whether the matter can be dealt with internally or to liaise with the relevant law firm, as appropriate. If the matter is complex conference calls or meetings can also be arranged, following discussion with Sarah.
